Ace Actor Kamal Hassan, whom Dadasaheb Phalke Award Winning Tamil Director Late K balachandar had launched along with Superstar Rajinikant decades ago, has paid tributes to his mentor in a video message from United States. Kamal Hassan could not rush back to condole Mr Balachandar's family when the latter passed away here on the evening of December 23 following a heart ailment.
In his vedio message acknowledging Mr Balachandar's 'unrivalled contribution' to Tamil cinema, Kamal said the work he was doing for the new film 'Uttama Villain' in which Mr Balachandar also plays a key role, would be the most cherished in his lifetime.
Kamal said although he did not believe in rituals like last rites, the 'last rites' he was performing for his 'Guruji' was completing the work for 'Uttama Villain' for which Mr Balachandar had sent him to USA. He had done this even missing his Guru's last rites, this was the best tribute he could have aid to him, Kamal added.
'Not only has Mr Balachandar directed more then 100 films, he has introduced 100s of artistes, I am one of them', he said.
'Mr Balachandar's work has not ended with him. He would be heard through the films that his 'students' like me make', Kamal said.
