I’ll continue KB’s legacy like a son: Kamal

Kamal Haasan, who was launched as a mainstream hero in the Tamil film industry by the late K Balachander, was away in the US, when his mentor had passed away. The actor, who arrived in Chennai recently, took time out on Wednesday morning to visit the Iyakunar Sigaram's grieving family, along with Gauthami.

A source who was with Kamal at that time tells us, "Kamal sir visited the family — KB sir's wife, son and daughter Pushpa — to convey his condolences. They spent 45 minutes together, reminiscing about the director's days of glory. Kamal was understandably emotional as he spoke about his mentor — their interactions and discussions on the shooting spot, how they shared a great chemistry professionally as well as personally and how KB sir was ahead of his time."

The meeting was a private one. However, a few media persons had gathered outside KB's house after coming to know that the actor was there. So, he addressed them and remarked, "Avar vittu sendra paniyai oru maganaaga naan pinthodarven (I will continue his legacy, like a son would do). His death is a huge loss. The government must archive his films for posterity."

A few months ago there were talks doing rounds that Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan might take initiative to complete his dream project Marudhanayagam which was shelved way back in 1997. Now, Kamal Haasan himself has confirmed that he will revive Marudhanayagam in 2015.

Talking to a popular Tamil magazine, the Vishwaroopam actor has said the remaining portions of Marudhanayagam will be shot next year with many prominent producers showing interest to invest in the project. The film which was planned to be released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, English and French hit a deadlock due to monetary issues. Kamal Haasan plays the role of an eighteenth century warrior Maruthanayagam Pillai, who later got converted to Islam to be popularly known as Muhammed Yusuf Khan. The original cast included Sathyaraj, Kannada actor Vishnuvardhan, Nassar, Amrish Puri, Om Puri and Pasupathy among many others.

The team had also approached Hollywood actress Kate Winslet to play the female lead which was later rejected by her. Kamal had recently said that apart from money, the film needs a powerful distribution network from the west as the virtue of the film demands it. He had also mentioned that the first 30 minutes of the film has been already shot and needs another two hours of content to complete the film. The Nayagan star, who is currently working hard to finish the post production works of Uttama Villain has two more films lined up to be released any time soon.

Uttama Villain is expected to hit the screen first followed by Papanasam and Vishwaroopam 2 post which Kamal will start shooting the remaining portions of Marudhanayagam.

kamal Hassan instincts proven right !!

Kamal Hasan's instincts:

1) In 1978, “Sivappu
Rojakal” got released. He played the
role of a Psychopath killer.

One year later, a guy called
Psycho Raman was caught for
brutally murdering people
especially women.

2) In 1988, kamal played the role of a
unemployed youth in the movie
“Sathya”.

In 89-90’s our country faced
lot of problems due to
unemployment.

3) 1992, “Devar Magan” got released. Its a village based subject. There ll
be some scenes portraying communal clashes!

Exactly a year later in 1993,
there were many communal clashes
in southern districts.

4) In 1996 many people was cheated by finance companies. “Mahanadhi” which
was released in 1994 has clearly depicted this in the movie!

5) In “heyram”(2000), there are some
scenes relating to Hindu Muslim
clashes. We all know 2 yrs later,
godhra(Gujarat riots) incident
happened.

6) He used a word called ‘tsunami’ in
his movie “Anbesivam”(2003).The
word ‘tsunami’ was not known to
many people before!

In 2004, ‘tsunami’ stuck the east coast of our country and many people lost
their lives.

7) In ”Vettaiyadu Vilayadu ”(2006)
there are 2 characters called ila, amudhan who played the roles of
psychopath killers.

After 3 months of
release of the movie, the noida
serial killing came to light
(moninder/sathish)

8) The world is talking about the
Ebola virus now, but Ulaganayagan had mentioned about it in
'Dasavatharam' in 2008.

In a scene, Ulaganayagan says "It's a synthetic bio weapon, It's a Ebola
-Marburg combination. It's very lethal."

That's why KAMAL HASSAN IS CALLED ULAGANAYAGAN!

plz take the survey of kamal hassan !

Shocking! Mysskin Says He Doesn't Want To Work With Rajinikanth Or Kamal Haasan!!

After openly declaring that Mani Ratnam's National Award winning movie Nayagan featuring Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan in the lead was a 'copy' from a Hollywood movie, Mugamoodi  director Mysskin has now said he doesn't want to work with either Kamal Haasan or Rajinikanth. Recently he was bombarded with questions from his fans and followers regarding his upcoming movie Pisasu which is being bankrolled by the Naan Kadavul  director Bala. One such question was about the two stalwarts of Tamil cinema, he was asked, what kind of film would he do if he gets an opportunity to direct Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan for which Mysskin blatantly answered by saying, "I have no idea to work with them". While most of the directors would've said they would love to work with two of most prominent personalities of Kollywood at the current age, Mysskin has undoubtedly taken everyone by surprise with an explicit answer. While he might attract criticism from the fans, his bold and open answer ahead of the release of his film is indeed admirable. Pisasu, a horror film, is set to hit theatres on 19th of December 2014 and has managed to induce some expectations among movie buffs due to the fact that Mysskin has not tried an out and out horror film in the past. Known for his ability to carry off thriller subjects with ease, Mysskin's narration skills while conveying a horror story would be put to test. His last movie Onaayum Aattukkuttiyum received positive response from critics and fans alike and was declared as a box office hit. Interestingly, the film was premiered on Vijay TV on 2nd of November 2013(Diwali day), while it was still running successfully in theaters.

'Lingaa' Box Office Collection: Rajini-Starrer Beats Kamal's 'Vishwaroopam' in US!!

Rajinikanth-starrer "Lingaa" continues to rock the overseas box office with its impressive performance. "Lingaa" took huge openings on the first day and has managed to sustain its momentum in the first weekend despite getting mixed reviews from critics and audience.
The action drama film has beaten the total collection of Kamal Haasan's "Vishwaroopam" at the United States box office. "Lingaa" has minted more than $1.3 million and has emerged as the all-time second highest grossing Tamil film in the US.
The superstar's "Endhiran" continues to be the all time highest grossing Tamil film in the country. It needs to be seen if "Lingaa" will be able to surpass "Endhiran" collections and take the top spot.
The film has also performed well in other key overseas markets including UK (£171,068) and Malaysia (1,263,060 Malaysia Ringgit), reportedBollyywood Hungama.
According to latest reports, "Lingaa" has minted over ₹80 crore in its opening weekend at the worldwide box office. The action entertainer raked in over ₹56 crore in India, while its collections from overseas markets amount to around ₹30 crore. Its worldwide first-weekend figures stand at approximately ₹86.3 crore, according toAndhraboxoffice.
After the fantastic performance in the first weekend, "Lingaa" witnessed a drop in its collections on Monday. While its performance in Tamil Nadu has been decent, it did poor business in several areas outside the state. Considering that the film has received average reviews from filmgoers, one needs to wait and watch as to how it fares in the following days.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged that "Lingaa" run time will be trimmed by 9 minutes to make it crispier. The film's lengthy run time received flak and now the makers seem to have taken care of it.

Uttama Villain was also wrapped up recently and the movie, directed by Kannada actor Ramesh Aravind, is ready to hit screens. Incidentally, the movie was scheduled for release in December, but was postponed to accommodate Lingaa. "They need to get the right timing for the release of Uttama Villain because director Shankar's `I' is also slated for release in January. If Uttama Villain makes way for `I' in January, once again the release date of Papanasam could be delayed further," a distributor Tamil Nadu, said.
It not clear when It's the much-awaited sequel of Vishwaroopam will release. The makers of Papanasam are clear that their movie will release before b Vishwaroopam 2 releases. Vishwaroopam 2 is produced by Aascar Ravichandran, who has produced Shankar's `I'. It is also produce well known in the filmy circles that Vishwaroopam 2 will be released two months after 'I' hits the theatres. "Kamal Haasan is now concentrating on promoting Uttama Villain. "That's how I spent my 60th birthday on Friday. Cleaning the lakes, which is a good beginning, I think, for a cleaner country. We've got environmentalist Arun Krishnamurti on board to help us with the campaign," Kamal Haasan said.
"There is no point in doing anything randomly for the environment. For any such campaign to make an impact on the environment, we need proper guidance," said the superstar, who discourages his fans from celebrating his birthday in a pompous way.
He has even reached out to his fans to drive the campaign.
"I've told my fan clubs to do whatever they can in the way of social causes. Beyond that, I strictly forbid them from celebrating my birthday with cakes and singing. At 60, even your fans need to sober down," he said.

Kamal Hassan, who turned 60 earlier this year, has spent nearly five and a half decades in the film industry and he has earned a reputation which most others can only dream about.

Now, a new biography about Kamal's  films is set to be launched. Aptly titled Citizen K, the book has been written by Hariharan, the Principal of Prasad Film Academy.

Talking about the book, Kamal Hassan said, "I guess those who will be looking for juicy details from my personal life would be disappointed. Citizen K is purely about my work. Hariharan has been watching my cinema very closely. He is somewhat an authority on my work. So the book is purely work-oriented."
